The past month has been filled with not-stop illness, health issues and all-around yuckiness that seemed to never end. Finally, after over three weeks of Gatorade, AirBorne, tissues and chicken soup, there is a light at the end of the tunnel… and it’s NOT another train. But was this time wasted, or is there some purpose in befalling extended downtime?
One thing I have noticed by getting back into my non-contagious daily schedule, I have more energy and strength. My back does not seem to be as much of a liability and I can even drive more. I was puzzled by this at first, but then I thought about it. Because the house has been infected, I’ve been unable to go anywhere or do anything stressful to my condition. I’ve been doing little more than laying around watching videos or working on my computer. (Yes, Working! I don’t play games ALL the time you know.)
This extended period of inactivity has allowed my back to naturally strengthen. It even feels like the disc might be healing, but I know that’s highly unlikely. Regardless of what is going on, I find it easier to get up in the morning. It’s easier to bend down and get something off the floor, it’s easier to drive to the store, I can even sit in my office chair for upto an hour at a time now.
So regardless of what sicknesses invaded my house, I must eventually be thankful. If it weren’t for the reign of the sicklies, I might not be in as good condition as I am in now. For that, I would GLADLY endure more illness. Bring it on!
