Jaden at R-Camp 2007My oldest returned from R Camp this week… and great things must have transpired there. The boy who returned is a little closer to the pre-teen we are trying to raise.

I’m not saying a miracle happened or anything, but something similar. You see, my sons… just like their father… can be very selfish at times. And my oldest usually leads the pack in this sin. But when he returned from camp, two amazing things happened; 1. He was EXCITED about something other than video games and 2. He was much more respectful to his parents and brothers.

At R-Camp, the kids are taught spiritual lessons, surrounded by days of fun, games, and friends. The relationships that the kids create at R-Camp are some of the most powerful and lasting relationships than they will ever forge in a single week. These relationships, in addition to the great Biblical teachings, help them to build confidence, respect, and a strong sense of right and wrong.

We are amazed at the maturity that he has displayed in the few days he has been home and we plan to make full use of this foundation and build upon what has already begun to take hold.

kidswave.jpgMy church recently held a special mission contribution drive to raise money for the churches in India. Indian churches are under a very difficult time now especially with the global economy suffering from the US economy. (Gas prices in India are around $10 per gallon… with the average income around $300 a month.)

I’m calling for any and all gamers and movie lovers to donate/sell some of their game discs and movie DVDs toward supporting Christian efforts in India. Here’s how it works:

A) Sell your game or movie discs at a local game trading retailer such as Game Stop or online at eBay, Half.com or Craigslist.
B) Donate the profits to the India church via the PayPal Donate button on the IndiaCOC.org website.

OR

A) Send your games and movies (with original packaging, if possible) to me and I will sell for maximum profit to certain collectors and local media trade centers.

Why Games and Movies?
Industry experts claim that the video game industry is one of the few recession-proof industries in the nation. A financial adviser to the New York Times states that “if people are down to their last $50, they will buy milk, eggs and video games.” Therefore, video games are among the easiest products to sell back into circulation for a good profit. This maximized profit is desperately needed for the work in third world countries such as India.
